Slovenian Home prepares strudel for next summer's picnic


Aurelia Cooley measures while Madelaine Williams works with the dough Oct. 28 during the strudel stretch at the Slovenian Home in Spring Glen. The group begins preparations for the summer Slovenian Day picnic the fall before the festivities. Good strudel depends on the perfect dough and freshly ground apples so fall is a good time to make and fill the pastry with fruit. The finished strudel is frozen until the summer when a local bakery puts the pastry in the oven and gets the dish ready for the picnic.
