Carbon avoids shutout against Hurricane

Justin Procarione and Chad Dameron move in to help another Dino stop a Hurricane ball carrier.

In a season that has gotten away from them, the Carbon High football team looks to savor any small victory.

The Friday night game had little to cheer about as the team went down to Hurricane 42-6. But at least it was the first non shutout in the last four games the Dino's have played.

In the first drive of the game, Carbon almost held Hurricane on a goal line stand.

That was the highlight of the half.

The Dinos failed to move the ball or stop their opponents after that. By halftime the Tigers held a 33-0 lead.

Hurricane brought their entire football squad and by the fourth quarter they had inserted their JV players.

Coach Salisbury followed suit and the game became competitive for the final quarter of play. It was the JV squad who scored Carbon's first points since the Emery game almost a month ago.

Carbon will play one last game of the season at home matching up with North Sanpete. North Sanpete has only one non region win under their belt and is 3-6 overall.

Whichever team wins the final game of the season will have the pleasure of moving out of the Region 8 cellar.

The game is scheduled for Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. on Carbon's home field.
