The Helper American Legion Baseball began its regular season of play with a victory over West Monday night.

The game was a slugfest as Helper pounded out 12 runs on eight hits. West knocked in four runs on nine hits.

Kyler Edgehouse started for Helper and pitched a good game.

AJ Mitcheson and Brady Wilde pitched in middle relief for the team and had a bit of trouble with their control.

Jordan Moynier came on as the closer and shut down West to secure the win.

Helper led the game from the first inning and answered every scoring effort of West with one of their own. The team used their running game to keep themselves in scoring position whenever they could. Helper put at least a score on the board in every inning of the game.

Joe Via and Trever Thompson both went two for four. Via hit a homer.

Aaron Sandoval was solid at the plate. Hitting in the lead off position he was two for two with a triple and a home run.

The team sits at 1-1 in league play, heading to Bountiful on Wednesday and Caldwell, Idaho for a tournament this weekend.

The American Legion season runs into July at which point state playoffs begin.
