Carbon senior swimmers earn Academic All-State honors

David Youso and Bonnie Peterson hold their Academic All-State awards that they recently received.

Carbon High senior swimmers Bonnie Peterson and David Youso earned both Academic All-Region and Academic All-State awards for their participation in swimming and their outstanding grades. The two are the only seniors on the Carbon swim team this year. The All-State girls had a cumulative GPA of 3.97 and the All-State boys had a cumulative GPA of 3.90.

Peterson is an exceptional student from Carbon High. Her cumulative GPA for her four years of high school is 3.989 and she is currently ranked 7th in her graduating class.

She is taking courses to prepare for college including AP Calculus, AP English, AP History, and more. She plans to attend BYU or SUU in the fall and will major in graphic design.

Youso is taking several college classes as part of his high school experience and is an excellent student.

At CEU he has taken anthropology, biology, criminal justice, western civilization, geology, mass communications, break dancing, speech, video production, understanding art, psychology, human anatomy, literature, and American government. His cumulative GPA for four years of high school so far, including the college classes, is a 3.894.

He will be just shy of an associate's degree when he gets his high school diploma.

Next fall he plans to attend Northwestern Christian College in St. Paul, Minn. and is looking to handle a double major in both digital media and broadcasting.
