Letter to the Editor: Article was great

The Salt Lake Tribune's write up about Helper was very good to see and read.

I was rasied in Helper and it is a perfect example of an American town. Every nationality lived in Helper with no discrimination to any nationality during the 1930's through the 1960's. The 4,000 people who lived there were happy and Main Street had a JC Penney and a Cornet store. Every building had a business going.

Helper also had one of the best amateur baseball teams in the state as well. It was one of the best places in the state to live, as Carbon County is today.

But Carbon County can only progress by having oil and gas companies develop and drill as many wells as they want and need.

The environmentalists need to help us. The power plants need to be allowed to expand and for new ones to be built. These companies will not destroy the land or the wildlife here.
