The Carbon High Lady Dinos volleyball team traveled to Delta last Thursday where they faced off against the Rabbits. The winner was decided in four games with Carbon ending on top by the final, 3-1.
In the first set, Delta came out strong and defeated the state champion Dinos, 25-16. Carbon bounced back however in the next three sets to upset Delta, 27-25, 25-23 and 25-17. The victory boosts the Dinos to 8-1 overall for the season and 6-1 in the Region 8 standings.
Carbon will face North Sanpete Tuesday night on the Dinos home court. For the Lady Dinos, this game is extremely important. North Sanpete is the only team who has defeated Carbon this year and currently leads the region standings with an undefeated record of 5-0. The Dinos hope to change this record Tuesday night.
Despite Carbon continuing its winning ways, the state rankings came out late last week and Carbon dropped from second to fifth in the state. That is probably due to some of the other teams in the state raising their value rather than Carbon's declining. Snow Canyon, for instance, is undefeated on the year (7-0) yet had remained unranked until the new poll came out.
On Thursday, Carbon will head south to compete against the Emery Spartans.
