Class Reunion - Carbon High Class of '95 reunion will be held August 19-20. Please contact Nanci Guymon at nguymon@mymail.slcc.edu so we can make sure to keep you up on the details.

Palm Sunday Mass and Breakfast - St. Anthony's Palm Sunday and the Knights of Columbus Men and Boys breakfast is planned for March 20 in Helper. Guest speaker is scheduled to be Tom Wharton, noted Salt Lake Tribune Travel Editor and news reporter. Mass is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. and the breakfast immediately following in the civic auditorium next door to the church. Guests are welcome and non-Catholics desiring to attend the breakfast and hear Mr. Wharton are encouraged to do so. The breakfast is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. in the civic auditorium.

Helper City Spring Clean-up - for residents of Helper City will be in effect the last two weeks of April. City crews will pick up branches, shrubs, etc. only. No furniture, appliances, etc. There will be no backtracking after your week is done. Branches must be cut in four foot lengths and stacked off the road and sidewalk so they will not be in the way until pick up. April 18-22: Castle Gate Subdivision, 1st thru 5th Ave., Martin, Orchard Street, 1st thru 11 North, Bryner Street, West Helper. April 25-29: East Helper, Locust Street, Maple Street, Poplar Street, Main Street, South Highway 6.

2005 St. George Utah Art Festival - will be held March 25 & 26, 2005. Every year visitors from throughout the southwest make the trip to enjoy St. George's beautiful red rock country and warm spring weather and to support our region's artists. Please plan on attending this event.

Panel Discussion - The Militant Labor Forum presents a panel discussion on: Defend the right to a drivers license! The aim of the U.S. employer class is not to drive immigrant workers out but to drive them down — to maintain a permanent layer of the workforce stripped of most rights and subject to superexploitation. Attacks against immigrant workers pave the way for broader attacks against the working class as a whole. There will be a panel of speakers, followed by a discussion. All are welcome. Food Handlers Classes - for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores or grocery deli's. Classes will be taught in Price on March 23 at 9:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Southeastern Utah District Health Dept., 28 South 100 East. Classes will be taught in Castle Dale on March 24 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Health Dept., 25 West Main Street. Classes are 2 hours in length and the cost is $10.00 to take the test. Scoodeo (Wheelchair and Scooter Safety Training) - Carbon County Health Department, Carbon County Housing Authority and Active Re-Entry's VISTA Volunteers ADA Sidewalk Project are sponsoring a Scoodeo at the Housing Authority, 251 South 1600 East in Price on April 11 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. Wheelchair and scooter users will learn about the pedestrian vehicle laws, how and why to use pedestrian crosswalks, maneuvering your wheelchair or scooter around obstacles, and opening doors which are not handicap accessible. Workout For Your Health - Carbon Rec offers low impact aerobic, weight and many other fitness techniques classes from Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. $2.00 per class or passes available. Volunteers Needed - ProCare (After School Program) is seeking volunteers to help out with daily activities and also substitute for regular VISTA workers when necessary. High school students and all adults welcome. Those over 18 must pass background check prior to working with ProCare. Easter Egg Hunt - Helper Lions Club will hold their annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 26 at 9:00 a.m. in Helper City Park.

Foster Grandparents - Volunteers of America-Utah needs grandparents to join the Foster Grandparent Program team. Foster Grandparents receive a modest non-taxable stipend of about $200 per month. Individuals who are at least 60 years old; love children; have a limited income, and extra time to share may qualify. FGP volunteers serve 15 hours per week in local schools, receive a daily meal, a yearly physical, accident and liability insurance while on duty, and mileage reimbursement to and from the school. Alzheimer's - Memory Loss - The Price area has been developing a C.A.R.E. Program with the Alzheimer's Association. The program needs caregivers who could use a break from the constant chores of taking care of a family member with memory loss. The program also needs volunteers to help provide companion services while the caregiver gets a much needed break for 1-3 hours. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage. The C.A.R.E. program for the Alzheimer's Association of Utah is in the Price R.S.V.P. office which is located in the Carbon County Senior Citizens building, 30 East 200 South in Price. Helper City Community Development Committee - All interested parties are invited to attend the Community Development Committee Meeting of Helper City every Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the Helper Civic Auditorium or in the Library in the Auditorium. This committee has been formed by Volunteers to acquire a new Helper City Community Pool.

Story and Craft Hour - C.E.U. Museum will be holding a children's Story and Craft Hour every first and third Friday of the month at 2:00 pm in the Museum's Discovery Room. Please call the Museum at 637-5060 if you have any questions.

Casa Volunteers Needed - Each year hundreds of children in Carbon and Emery counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kerrie, the CASA Coordinator, at (435) 381-5595.

Frontier Project - A local Family Support Group, Frontier Family F.U.T.U.R.E.S. meets every third Thursday in Carbon County. This is an organized parent education and support group. Anyone interested is invited to participate. Meetings begin at 7:00 at the Castle Valley Center, 755 North Cedar Hills Dr. in Price. Childcare and refreshments are available. The Frontier Project is also recruiting respite providers and mentors for youth and families. Do you have an hour a week to give to a child? Cans for CARE-A-VAN - Aluminum can drive to assist the elderly with transportation to medical appointments. Drop off at Howa's on Carbonville Road or call 637-9488 for pick up. Cans must be bagged.

Utah Family Center Lending Library - to help parents including topics such as infant through adult literacy, discipline, children & teens mental health, bullying and much more. Carbon County Food Bank - Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. For information on donating, volunteering or applying, contact the food bank at 637-9232.

Carbon County RSVP - RSVP partners senior individuals (55 & older) with organizations in need of their time, talent, and life experiences. If you are interested in volunteering, or are in need of volunteers, please call 637-9118.

Parenting for Teens - The Family Support and Children's Justice Center in Price offers a free class dealing with the issues, problems and difficulties facing teen parents. Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Family Support & Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes/divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Kingsmen Drag Strip Association- have regrouped by construction a business plan for securing federal grants or finding a private entity to build the NHRA drag strip on West Four Mile Hill.
