Pair retire from search and rescue


Carbon County Sheriff James Cordova along with Carbon County Search and Rescue commander Frank Publiese, stand with Bill Burton and Gary Lyon, who are retiring from the search and rescue service. Both men have served over 25 years with the search and rescue. Lyons has also served for 10 more years in search and rescue services in other parts of the state as well as in Idaho. Both served as commander of the Carbon organization at one time and will now have senior status, which means the can still respond to emergencies, but will not be obligated to attend meetings. Senior status can be granted to those that reach age 55 with 10 years of service. Pugliese said that search and rescue currently has 22 active members.
