|East Carbon's Jennifer Maestas goes for two against West Desert during a home game in Sunnyside. The Lady Hawks won 59-15.|
If last Thursday nights game wasn't frustrating for East Carbon girls basketball coach Ryan Hepworth, nothing ever will be after the team suffered a 59-15 loss to West Desert.
"That game almost did me in," said Hepworth on Friday during a boys contest at the school.
In the entire game the Lady Vikings only made seven field goals and hit one foul shot. Much of the problem just seemed to be holding onto the ball. Time and time again the Lady Hawks ran the floor with either dropped, mispassed or stolen balls.
In the first quarter alone West Desert scored more points than the hometown team did when they went up 19-3 at the end of the first period. The second period was even harder on the girls from East Carbon as the opposition went into the locker room at halftime with a 41-7 lead.
In the second half things did slightly improve for the Lady Vikings as they held down the scoring of the team from Trout Creek, holding them to only 18 points in the half.
Jennifer Maetas led East Carbon with 6 points, while Donna Turner had 4.
The team now faces Dugway tonight (Thursday) at home at 6 p.m.
