The College of Eastern Lady Eagles move into a tournament in southern Idaho on Thanksgiving weekend after two weeks of successful play in tournaments at Southern Utah State and at Casper, Wyo.

The team presently has a 2-3 record after early preseason play with wins over two teams from Arizona and three losses in the north country.

The first game the team won was against Yavapai Community College from Prescott. High scorer for the team was Veva Whitear with 11 points followed by Janeen Nelson with 10.

In the second game at SUU the team beat Glendale Community College from Glendale in a close game 65-63. The high scorers in that game were Nelson with 13 and Jana Glover with 9.

The top rebounder in both contests was Whitney Fardig with 7 and 6 respectively. Whitear was tops in assists with 5 and 6.

Up north the team did not fair so well. On Nov. 4 they faced Northwest College from Powell, and lost 54-51.

In that game the top scorers were Glover with 11 and Krislyn Wallace with 8. She also had 8 rebounds. Whitear and Duchena Martin each had 3 assists.

The next day they faced the home team in Casper Community College and were defeated 61-56.

The top scorers in that game were Glover with 15, Wallace with 14 and Whitear with 12. Fardig was the top rebounder with 11 boards.

In the final game of the tournament CEU faced Sheridan College. Once again they came up short 74-69.

The teams top scorers were Wallace with 14 and Whitear with 11. Glover, Martin and Marcy Loveless all came in with 8 in a great effort. Wallace was also the top rebounder with 9, while Fardig had 8 along with 2 blocked shots.

"We had 6 players out for the Pizza Hut Tournament," said Coach Dave Paur, of the games in Casper. "But we played it tight right up to the end and only lost them in the last moments of play."

In the College of Southern Idaho tournament the team will face two other teams, including the home team which always has a top notch program.

Regular Scenic West Athletic Conference play will begin on Dec. 3 when the team faces the Dixie Lady Rebels at home.

All womens games at CEU are at 5:30 p.m. with the mens games coming at 7:30 each evening.
