College of Eastern Utah and Salt Lake Community College basketball players had a sneak preview of the opening round of the Scenic West Athletic Conference tournament last weekend at the Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center.
CEU split the weekend with SLCC, losing Friday 83-85 but winning Saturday 63-60.
The two teams will face off today in the first round of the Region 18 tournament in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Although CEU will enter the tournament as a sixth seed with an 11-13 conference record, SLCC may not have the advantage as a 15-9 third seed.
In the four meetings between the two teams, CEU has come away with a win three times, including a 72-58 blowout at Salt Lake in November.
With a win, College of Eastern Utah would advance and most likely play a Friday game against Snow College.
Snow College has a first round matchup against Colorado Northwestern, a team which has yet to win a conference game.
But, this is March, a time when anything can and often does happen.
