College of Eastern Utah begins year with win

In an 18 point victory, College of Eastern Utah rang in the new year with a win over College of Southern Idaho on Jan. 2.

The Eagles outscored Southern Idaho in both halves of the game, but first half play allowed CEU to take a big, 41-27 lead into the locker room.

Chris Lang was the high scorer of the game with 17 points, three assists, two rebounds and a steal.

Nyheem Shiggs contributed 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal and Chris Langhorne added 11 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

The final score was 80-62.

Southern Idaho battled back the next night, though, taking a 10 point lead over the Eagles early in the game.

CEU entered the half down by six points and was unable to make up the difference.

Southern Idaho won, 59-55.

Leonta Matthews had 15 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist on the night.

Southern Idaho drops to 6-4 in Scenic West Athletic Conference standings.

College of Eastern Utah goes to 7-5.
