Carbon takes three in week of competition

Halee Rasmussen takes a shot against San Juan defenders during the 80-30 onslaught on Friday night.

The Lady Dinos cruised through last week's series of home games, winning all three against non-region opponents Spanish Fork, San Juan and Snow Canyon.

However, head coach Bruce Bean said the wins are not a true measure of the teams talent; he expects this week's games against Uintah, Cedar City and Pineview to give the team more of a challenge and allow the players to gauge themselves.

Carbon is using the bench on a limited basis this season, going only seven or eight players deep against tougher teams.

As a result, injuries will be the key as to whether or not the team will be successful this season, Bean said.

Last year, the team was plagued by several injuries which took key players away from the rotation.

Offensively, the team has been able to make some adjustments and several players are becoming more of a scoring threat. According to Bean, the team has also cut down on turnovers and poor shooting choices.

The team is still working towards locking in a consistant player in the three position to support their strong inside and outside game.

"I'd like to come away with three more wins this week," he commented. "I think we're playing better but this week we'll really see."

Carbon will host Unitah today. The varsity game begins at 7 p.m.
