'I've loved it,' owner says, but it's time to go

Price's Main Street will have another vacant storefront as Wild Cats Lingerie is closing down after six years of business.

Wild Cats Lingerie owner Cathy Workman said the shop will close down effective the end of February. Workman said a myriad of reasons including the difficult economy as well as medical issues that have been plaguing her for the past few years are the reasons for closing the business' doors.

"I'm sad about having to close down the shop," said Workman. "The economy has played a factor but it seems like it's been one thing after another with my health."

Workman said she originally had opened Wild Cats on Carbon Avenue before eventually moving to the current location 39 W. Main Street six years ago.

After years of business on Price's main thoroughfare, Workman said she would miss seeing people walking along Main Street and those who stopped in the shop.

"You meet so many people owning a shop in a small town. It had plenty of ups and downs.

"It's really rewarding to own a business in a place like this because you get to meet so many different people that you get close to over the years," she explained. "But as a small business, I held out as long as I could and stayed open thanks to a lot of help from my sister."

While Wild Cats Lingerie may be closing down, Workman said she won't be finished running a business. Workman is planning to continue with her Halloween shop with costumes and other accessories that has been very successful for her over the years. She is planning to run the business out of her home in Helper.

With the final two weeks of business, Workman said Wild Cats would be having sales of merchandise with everything in the store being sold at 50 percent off or more.

As the time counts down on the store before its final day, Workman said its been hard having to go to the shop with the knowledge that it won't be around much longer.

"I've had a really hard time going into the store because of that," she said. "It will be tough not getting to see people and friends I've made over the years stopping by the store to talk.

"It's been a lot of fun owning a business here in Price," she said. "I've loved it."
