Jordan Scoggins, right, and the rest of the Carbon High Lady Dinos hope a win against Payson on Thursday, Feb. 13 would lead to the team hosting a home playoff game on Friday, Feb. 21.
Winning final game against Payson would help Carbon girls' hope of hosting playoff game
With a number of different playoff scenarios floating around, all the Carbon High girls basketball team can do is focus on one thing. Beat Payson at home and let everything play out.
With a 3-4 record in Region 12 play, the Lady Dinos could see a number of different things happening over the next week.
If they win against Payson, they would tie with Juab for second place at 4-4. If CHS wins and Richfield defeats North Sanpete, there would be a three-team logjam for the number two spot. If CHS loses to Payson and Richfield defeats North Sanpete, they could finish fourth in the region. One other scenario could see CHS losing to Payson and Richfield losing to North Sanpete which would have both teams tie for the third spot in the region.
The difference in the second, third and fourth spots is huge. If Carbon won the coin toss in a tiebreaker scenario, they would likely host Union on Feb. 21. If they finish in third place, the Lady Dinos would travel to play Juan Diego. And if they finished in fourth place, the Lady Dinos would have to travel to play Morgan High on Feb. 21.
