A Magna man has plead guilty to automobile homicide negligence by DUI of alcohol in connection with a July 2013 crash which took the life of a Price woman.
Alvin Clint Carter, 27, faces up to five years prison after accepting a plea agreement on Monday which dismissed the charges of DUI, driving on a revoked license and failure to maintain control on a canyon road in exchange for his guilty plea to third degree felony negligent homicide. Carter will be sentenced in the 7th District Court of Judge Douglas Thomas on April 14.
On July 7, 2013, public safety officials discovered the body of Brooke Tomadakis, 22 after she was ejected from the Dodge pickup Carter was driving. The truck reportedly lost traction on the rear end while descending a steep curve at approximately 1:45 a.m. and rolled, plunging approximately 150 feet from Pondtown Road near Scofield.
According to court documents and the reports of Carbon County Chief Deputy Tom Stefanoff, Carter, Tomadakis and a third passenger Chad Wink were all ejected from the vehicle. Tomadakis was pronounced dead at the scene, Carter was taken by Air-Med to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, and Wink was transported by private vehicle to an unknown medical facility.
