USU Eastern women now 4-3 in SWAC play

USU Eastern women's head coach Dave Paur wanted to be a new excitement to his team this season.

A fast-paced offense based on quick shots, preferably from beyond the arc, has helped the Lady Eagles to winning record in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

The Lady Eagles survived the annual long road trip to Idaho by picking up a crucial split. USU Eastern lost to College of Southern Idaho 106-75 on Jan. 16 before rebounding with a 63-61 win over North Idaho College on Jan. 18.

CSI started their game on a 28-5 and never looked back handing USU Eastern the 31 point loss.

Against NIC, the Lady Eagles took a 32-26 lead into halftime. USU Eastern held NIC to just 31 percent from the field as they held on for the big win.

Caroline Fisher and Larissa Quintana led a balanced scoring effort with 12 and 10 points respectively.

USU Eastern (10-11 overall, 4-3 in SWAC play) will travel to play Colorado Northwestern CC on Saturday, Jan. 25 in a game starting at 3 p.m.

They will return home on Jan. 30 to host Salt Lake CC.
