Carbon High wrestlers fall to Juab in region match

Kyler Wood, left, tries to get out of the grips of his Juab opponent during a match on Thursday evening at Carbon High School.
Taylon Abeyta, top, and his Juab opponent look closely at the clock to see how much time is left in the final period. Abeyta scored two crucial points in the final moments of the match before falling in a sudden death period.

Despite grabbing an early lead, Carbon High wrestlers could not continue their good early start as they fell to Juab 54-22 on Thursday night at the CHS Gymnasium.

The Dinos, who had come off a string of strong performances including a win earlier in the week against ALA, took an early lead in the match.

But as the match went on, Juab gathered momentum.

The Dinos were unable to pick up many breaks despite some opportunities. Taylon Abeyta scored two points late in an exciting match to force a sudden death period. In sudden death, Abeyta's opponent scored a take down and picked up the win.

For the Dinos, their attention now turns to a road match against North Sanpete on Wednesday evening.
