Doris Morley, "Together again"

PRICE/DRAPER - Doris Marie Powell Morley, long time resident of Price, age 90, passed away of natural causes on Nov. 2, 2013 in Draper.

Doris was born Sept. 30, 1923, the daughter of Arthur and Edna Powell in Mt. Emmons, Utah.

She graduated from Altamont High School, where she was a cheer leader. She met Harold Austin Morley, who worked in the Uintah Basin with the CCC. They were married on Aug. 16, 1941 in Elko, Nev. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. She is the mother of four sons, Gary, Randy, Dennis and Tad, the grandmother of 13 and the great-grandmother of 33.

As an active member of the LDS Church, she served as a primary teacher and visiting teacher. Doris enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, canning, making delicious apricot jam, walking and watching Harold pitch softball games.

At age 70 she was chosen the most improved woman golfer at the Carbon Country Club and requested a new driver for her birthday. She cared for her family and worked occasionally at JC Penney, Woolworth and the Red Cross in Price. She was a substitute teacher at Durrant Elementary School and a Pink Lady at Castleview Hospital. As an artist, she created a number of beautiful oil paintings.

In 2006, she suffered a stroke and was cared for in Sandy. At the Atria, she became an Ambassador and played on the championship Wii bowling team, maintaining a cheerful attitude and making many friends, in spite of her impairments. Doris loves her family and her Heavenly Father.

Funeral service, Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, 11 a.m. Price 4th Ward Chapel, 545 E. 400 N., Price. Family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00-10:50 a.m. at the church. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
