The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife will release over 1,200 rooster pheasants on Division Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) and Walk-in-Access properties in southeastern Utah

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife will release over 1,200 rooster pheasants on Division Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) and Walk-in-Access properties in southeastern Utah prior to and during the pheasant hunt, which begins on November 2 and ends on November 17 on private land, but runs until December 1 on state and federal land in Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan counties.

Pheasant release sites will include the Desert Lake area, the Emery Game Farm, and the Lower San Rafael WMA. Birds will also be released on Walk-in-Access properties in Wayne and Emery counties.

Brad Crompton, acting wildlife manager in southeast Utah, indicated that he planned to release 400 pheasants just prior to the hunt opener, which starts on Saturday, November 2. Another 200 roosters will be released at the same sites just before each of the four weekends of the hunt.
