Jodell Pope

God called one of His angels home. On Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt & friend went home into the loving embrace of God.

There is no question in the minds of everyone who knew her that upon being ushered into His presence, He declared, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter into my rest."

Jodell Pope was born Sept. 10, 1928 to Luther & Minnie Brandon in Garber, Okla. At the age of 19, she married Robert L. Box. Together, they had three sons: Deryl, Lon, & Jim. Robert & Jodell later divorced. In September 1971, Jodell married James Lee Pope in Santa Barbara, Calif. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Los Angeles temple.

Jodell was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was blessed with many creative gifts. She was an expert seamstress all of her life. Jodell loved to sew fabric shopping bags & "peanut" pillows, which she delighted in giving to others. She freely bestowed these gifts whether she knew the people well, or whether she had just made their acquaintance.

When she lived in Shingletown, Calif., she enjoyed producing wood crafts. For a time, she had a business selling her creations at craft fairs & boutiques.

Jodell led by example. All who knew her have commented on her amazing attitude. She was never one to complain. To her, the glass was always half-full. Always.

For the past several months, Jodell lived at the Emeritus Assisted Living facility in Oceanside, Calif. Jodell was respected and popular with both other residents and staff, in large part because of her cheery disposition and upbeat positive attitude.

Jodell is survived by sons Deryl (Sherrill) Box, Lon (Kathy) Box, & Jim Box; two granddaughters, Shelby Box & Jennifer Box; one great-grandson, Owen Box; six brothers & sisters, and many nieces & nephews.
