Local junior high sports roundup

In junior high football, San Rafael defeated Mont Harmon 20-12 on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Nate Olson rushed for 67 yards on 16 carries, Jordan Gren rushed for 26 yards and 5 carries and two touchdowns. Defensively Ashton Larson led the way with 10 tackles. Cole Stevenson had an interception. Mont Harmon plays at Canyon View on October 2 and at Moab on October 5.

Helper Junior High defeated Canyon View 36-14 last Wednesday afternoon. The team is still undefeated in league play and is improving with each game, according to head coach Phil Howa.

In junior high volleyball, Mont Harmon Junior High girls are undefeated in league play, according to head coach Bill Wright. Wright said the team is "an athletic group that really plays well together."

For Helper Junior High girls, a young roster is still learning and improving, according to head coach Barbara Scoggins. "We're a very young team but the experience the girls are getting will pay off in the future," said Scoggins.
