Cleo Alena Larsen

Cleo Alena Larsen

ST. GEORGE - Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Cleo Alena Larsen, returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father surrounded by family on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013.

She was born Dec. 11, 1924 in Price.  She was the first of four children born to Leonard J and Florence Alena Norton Rich.  She married Garth D. Larsen January 2, 1943 in San Francisco, Calif.  They were later sealed in the St. George LDS temple on June 24, 2000. Cleo enjoyed the majority of her life in Price where she attended school and graduated from Carbon High School in 1942.  She always had pride in her appearance and attended beauty college and found great joy in making others beautiful as well.

Cleo married her sweetheart, Garth Larsen, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  She loved and supported him as he served our nation and together they have three beautiful children.  Just this past year they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Cleo was loved by all who knew her and filled her days with compassionate service to others.  As an active member of the LDS church she had many callings in Young Women's & Relief Society, but the calling she enjoyed most was Young Women's Camp Director.  Her heart and soul was devoted to her family.  She was adored by her husband, children, and grandchildren.  She was endearingly called "grandma great" by her great grandchildren, and the "candy lady" by all the little ones.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Deborah Leeflang (Bert), Las Vegas, Nev;  Todd Larsen (Sherry), St. George; and daughter-in-law Freddie Larsen, Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.   She is also survived by her sister, Edna Jackins, Denver, Colo.  Cleo is preceded in death by a son, Richard G. Larsen, a sister, Lenna Beth Echer; and a brother, Robert Rich.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. in the Bloomington 7th Ward Chapel, 3381 S. Mulberry St., St. George, UT. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, UT 435-673-2454. Family and friends are invited to sign her guest book at www.spilsburymortuary.com.
