Behind Jaren McCourt's four RBIs and rock solid pitching the Helper American Legion Baseball Team downed Cyprus for the second time Friday night to capture the 2013 Utah State American Legion Championship 8-3.

After beating Cyprus in extra innings earlier in the evening, Helper started the rematch, which was played at Logan High School, by scoring three quick runs.

In the third, the Castle Country squad put two runners on base with no outs and the score knotted at three. McCourt dug in and blasted a three run shot over the right field wall sending the bench into a frenzy.

With a 6-3 lead, Helper Head Coach Jeff Cisneros sent Cole Fossat to the mound. Fossat struck out three over the next three innings, allowing no runs and closing the door on Cyprus. Derek Young started the championship game for Helper allowing three runs across six strong innings.

"Right now everything is a little unbelievable," said Cisneros, who retired this season after 20 years with the legion club. "The win hasn't quite sunk in just yet."

The 2013 state title is Cisneros' second as the Helper head coach.

The legion squad will now represent Utah at the Legion Regional Championships in Surprise, AZ starting on Wednesday.
