Despite a few bounces and calls that didn't go their way, the Helper American Legion baseball squad picked up a 7-6 win in 10 innings over Cyprus at the state baseball tournament in Logan.

In a tense back and forth contest, Helper took an early 3-0 lead but Cyprus bounced back in the fifth inning scoring four big runs.

The Castle Country team regained the lead in the seventh, scoring three to go up 6-4. Playing for the state title, Cyprus would not go down easy, scoring one run in the seventh and another in the ninth to send the game into extra innings.

Knowing that they would need to beat Cyprus twice to claim the title, Helper wasted no time in the extra frame as Bryce Blackburn scored on a Derek Young chopper to the mound.

Dakota Cisneros pitched the bottom of the tenth and despite an error was able to hold on for the win.

As Cyprus was undefeated heading into tonight's game, Helper will now have to beat them again to claim the championship. Check back here for more about Helper's state title run.
