Early morning shotgun blasts in northeast Price have led to the felony arrest of a Carbon County man.
Brett G. Hatch, 33, of Price was taken into custody by Price Police Monday afternoon and booked into the Carbon County Jail on one second degree restricted person in possession of a firearm and one third degree felony criminal mischief charge. The criminal mischief count was enhanced to a felony due to the amount of property damage Hatch caused.
According to Price City Police Capt. Bill Barnes, the incident took place at 1:30 a.m. on July 29 when Hatch allegedly fired an undisclosed number of shotgun rounds into two vehicles and a camper in the Sagewood area.
The shotgun rounds reportedly woke up and startled several nearby neighbors who then contacted police.
A press release alleged that the crime was motivated by Hatch's "not being appreciative that the victim possessed a nicer house and vehicles than he possesses."
The shotgun allegedly used by Hatch has been seized.
According to Capt. Barnes, the arrest was made after extensive forensic evidence was evaluated and an intensive investigation took place.
