After all of the hard work and time put into advancing to the Utah State High School Rodeo competition in Heber City last week, one Carbon Rodeo Club member is recovering in a hospital after suffering a severe injury during the opening of the rodeo finals.
Kashley Donathan, a Carbon High student and member of the Carbon Rodeo Club, suffered a lacerated liver after coming off her horse during the Pole Bending competition on Wednesday, according to Kashley's grandmother, Kathy Donathan.
Donathan was in the ICU at Utah Valley Medical Center in Provo. Kathy Donathan said her granddaughter was released from the ICU on Saturday but will stay in the hospital in Provo as she continues to recover.
After hearing about the nature of Donathan's injuries, a total of near $12,000 was raised through the work of volunteers and a silent auction held at the rodeo to help with the costs of her injuries.
