Cole Fossat, left, prepares to high-five Derek Young, right, after he made a diving stop at first base to save a run from scoring late in a 2-0 loss to Desert Hills.
While the Dinos competed hard on the field throughout the state tournament, there were a few funny, and stomach churning, moments that occured during the tournament.
After defeating Juan Diego 6-5 in the morning of May 11, the Dinos stopped at a truck stop for lunch. After returning back to Stansbury High for their next game against Dixie High, players Dakota Cisneros and Bryce Blackburn showed signs of sickness. Cisneros pitched through two innings before being taken out of the game and Blackburn fought through the discomfort to stay in the game. Safe to say the Dinos may be packing lunches next time they travel to Stansbury for another game.
The Dinos did not make things very easy for the UVU public address announcer during their two games in Orem. The announcer had a difficult time pronouncing Carbon names including Kayden Feichko and Michael Peczuh, which sounded as if he pronounced his name as "pea soup". When the announcer correctly pronounced Feichko's name in the late innings of the game against Desert Hills, the Carbon fans gave a sarcastic cheer.
And finally, in the final inning of a back and forth game against Spanish Fork, assistant coach Jeff Cisneros must have been shocked when his name came over the PA system telling him to report to the booth immediately. For what reason? According to CHS athletic director Ted Bianco, the police noticed that Cisneros' truck was running in the parking lot for two hours.
