Miners score at 26th Annual Coal Country Traveling Trophy Shoot

Deer Creek shooters toe the line just before the targets fly. Deer Creek One took home the team trophy at this year's event with a combined score of 427 out of 505.
At the 26th Annual Event 23 teams of five shooters competed. Each shooter had the opportunity to score on 101 targets.
High gun honors went to Scott Thayn with a score of 91 out of 105.

Just shy of 100 area marksmen came together on April 20 at the Helper Gun Club to celebrate and shoot at the 26th Annual Coal Country Traveling Trophy Shoot.

The competition consists of five men teams shooting 101 non-registered targets with the highest team score winning the traveling trophy. The team prize is then displayed within the sponsoring business for a year. This year's event brought 23 teams to the Gun Club with each shooter having an opportunity to knock down 25 single, 25 handicap, 25 international and 26 double targets.

The 2013 Team Trophy went to the Deer Creek Mine's I Team. Craig Brotherson, Dereck Brotherson, Terry Howell, Randy McManus and Doug Luke scored 427 points out of a possible 505.

Individual "High Gun" went to Scott Thayn with a score of 91 points out of a possible 105.
