Expect delays in 9 Mile Canyon for several weeks due to road construction

On Tuesday and possibly Wednesday there will be paving operations in Nine Mile Canyon from mile post 29 to mile post 35, including the bridge at Harmon canyon.

Expect 10 to 20 minute delays.

On Tuesday, Harmon Canyon will be closed from noon to 4:00 p.m. due to paving the bridge at Harmon canyon. Below is a list of remaining work in the canyon.

Re-grade and compact the road base surface through Sheep and Harmon sections. This work will be going on throughout the next 2 weeks.

Install 4" of HMA asphalt on the ford crossing approaches, cattle guard approaches and the intersection at Harmon Canyon.

Install the first layer of chips. This will begin in approximately 2 - 3 weeks and will take 3 days to complete.

Cover the chips with a layer of Micro Surface. This will most likely happen the second week of May.

Install delineators.

Open up and improve two drainages in the Harmon section. This includes reshaping the drainages and installing rip rap.

Reconstruct approximately 1,500 feet of irrigation ditch between Argyle and Harmon canyons.

Starting next week and for the following two weeks, expect 10 - 20 minute delays during the paving and chipping operations.
