USU Eastern and Utah State battle to a four-game split

The USU Eastern Golden Eagles and the Utah State Aggies lit up the sky with plenty of fireworks over a four-game series with the teams battling to split the four games.

The Golden Eagles struck first with a 17-5 win that was highlighted by a Jonathan Santiago pinch hit Grand Slam that ended the game in favor of USU Eastern.

The Aggies struck back in the second game with a 12-7 win that saw the visitors score early which held up despite a USU Eastern rally in the middle innings.

The teams again traded victories on Saturday with USU Eastern winning the first game 6-2 and Utah State taking the second game 15-10 to round out the series.

USU Eastern Jake Meservey pitched seven solid innings with eight strikeouts in the Golden Eagle win.

In the 15-10 game won by Utah State, the two teams combined for 25 runs and 25 hits.

USU Eastern (17-19) will travel to Glendive, Mon., for a four-game series with Dawson Community College starting on Tuesday, April 9 and April 10.
