The Carbon County Attorney has filed charges of burglary, drug possession and tampering with evidence against former Deputy Sheriff Christopher Howard Basso, 37.
In the information filed with the Seventh Judicial District Court in Price, the probable cause statement alleges that while Basso was on administrative leave from the Sheriff's Department in January, he entered the office and removed methamphetamine and another Schedule I or II drug from the evidence room.
The burglary charge is a third-degree felony. The two counts of possession of controlled substance in a drug-free zone are both second-degree felonies. The evidence tampering is a Class A misdemeanor.
