Pinnacle High boys look to finish regular season on high note

Pinnacle High senior Dalton Rudman goes up for a layup during the Panthers' 61-50 win over Green River last week.

While the excitement of clinching a spot in the 1A State Tournament is still in the air, the Pinnacle High boys basketball team still has some work to do before heading off to Richfield on Tuesday.

The Panthers will travel to Whitehorse tonight (Feb. 21) for their regular season finale.

In the previous meeting between the two teams, Pinnacle needed a big fourth quarter run to pull away from Whitehorse for a 49-35 win on Jan. 12 in Price.

The Panthers trailed 29-28 going into the final quarter before they turned on the jets on offense with a 21-6 run to pull away for the victory.

After defeating Green River 61-50 last week to clinch a playoff spot, PHS head coach Andrew Olson said his team needs to work on making open shots and fix a few minor details on defense before heading into the state tournament.

"We've got to attack zone defenses better on offense and we can't get stagnant by just standing around watching the man with the ball," Olson said.

Pinnacle is currently 14-6 overall with a 6-3 mark in Region 19 play.
