Innovation contest promotes new ideas in business, technology

USU Eastern and the Business Expansion and Retention program are sponsoring a Business and Technology Innovation Competition to be held April 12 at 2 p.m. In the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center.

The objective is to showcase ideas for new products or innovations to existing products. Promoters say that the competition will give entrepreneurs the opportunity to get advice in developing concepts, exchange ideas and learn how to "pitch" their ideas to potential investors.

There are also prizes, including $5,000 cash, scholarship, advertising and iPad.

The competition is open to all Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan county businesses and residents. Finalists will be asked to prepare and present a brief concept summary to a panel of judges.

Deadline for submissions is March 25.
