Francisco Antonio Rendonon
EAST CARBON - Our beloved Francisco Antonio Rendon, age 73, passed away peacefully in Ogden on Feb. 11, 2013, after battling Alzheimer's Disease.
Tony, as he preferred to be called, was born in Los Sauces, Colo., on Feb. 23, 1939, to Jose H. and Rosa Romero Rendon. Tony was the middle child in his family and grew up to be the strong, silent type. He spent most of his youth on a horse helping his father with ranching, farming, and his pastime organizing family rodeos for himself and his siblings.
Tony met his wife Sylvia for the first time as a child not knowing that later in life he would fall in love and marry her. On Sept. 3, 1960, Tony married Geraldine S. Bustos at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon. He spent the majority of 52 years with Sylvia raising their six children, three boys and three girls. Tony often joked about having a half dozen of kids.
They moved to Utah in 1969 where he began working for Kaiser Steel Mining Corporation. Life as a coal miner wasn't easy. He provided for his family and after 25 years in mining, retired.
Tony didn't believe in idle hands, so he went back to work for the Green Well Inn in Price as a maintenance worker. He was a jack of all trades who could construct and restore anything he set his mind to. He could make something out of nothing.
Tony loved camping, fishing, and hunting and spent vacation time every year making memories with his family. He enjoyed his hobbies of mechanics and restoring cars so much that when his sons grew older, he passed his knowledge on to them. Tony and his wife taught their children to have a strong belief in family and to always support one another.
Tony wasn't afraid to say what was in his heart. He will forever be in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Sylvia Rendon, Sunnyside; three sons, Francis A. Rendon, Kearns; Isaac Ray Rendon, Ogden; Randy (Leslee) Rendon, West Jordan; three daughters, Amy (Michael) Houskeeper, Ogden; Connie (Randy) Burgess, Price; Jerri Rendon, Kearns; one brother, Sammy (Alice) Rendon, Sanford, Colo; two sisters, Anna Rendon, Sanford, Colo; Rose Ann Maez, Antonito, Colo; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Rosa Rendon; brothers, Tony and Joseph Rendon; sister Amy Marquez; and son-in-law, Michael Houskeeper, Spring Creek, Nev.
