Lee N. "Londy" Diamanti

Lee N. "Londy" Diamantin

HELPER - Lee quietly slipped away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 surrounded by family after suffering from pneumonia.

Lee was born on Sept. 30, 1917 to Nick and Maria Florias Diamanti in Helper. He was the second of their five children. In order to distinguish him from a cousin with the same name, he was given the nickname "Londy" after a boxer that he resembled.

Lee spent 92 years living in his family home in Helper. In 2010 he moved to the Heirloom Inn in Price. In his early years, he helped his dad on the family farm, and then worked in the coal mines along with keeping up the farm until he retired. He served in the Army during World War II and was honorably discharged.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brothers Bill and Chris, and his sisters Stella Mueller, and Katherine Gerrard, nephew Billy Diamanti, and niece Kathy Moore. He is survived by his sister-in-law Bonnie (Bill) Diamenti, Phyllis (Chris) Diamanti, nieces Susan Huff, Marietta Glauser, and nephew Nick Diamenti and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

He was always generous, kind, loving, and had a great sense of humor. He loved his comfy recliner, watched old Westerns and sports and loved his scooter. At first, he balked at getting a scooter, but once he got it "he was off to the races!" It was his pride and joy!

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at the Heirloom Inn for their kindness and a special great big thanks to his "buddies" at the Savoy with whom he played cards.

Funeral services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 E. Main Street, Price, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. Family will be at Mitchell's Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of "Londy"
