North Springs will remain open, but hours and fees will change

The Wild West town at North Springs accommodates group activities.

Rumors that the North Springs Shooting Range is closing are not true, but there will be some changes in operating hours and fees beginning with the new year.

Carbon County Recreation Director Steve Christensen said that beginning Jan. 3 hours will be Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

While that is fewer hours than in the past, Christensen said he believes most shooters will be accommodated. During spring and summer the range will be open later in the day.

Fees will increase slightly. A basic day pass will now be $7 and a junior pass, for youth ages 12 to 16, will be $3. Seniors will be admitted for $5 and the entire immediate family can shoot the entire day for $25. There will continue to be no charge for shooters under age 12, nor for visitors and non-shooting observers.

There will be additional charges for the 3-D Archery range, the law enforcement range, and for the shotgun/trap range.

An annual pass is just $125, or $175 for a couple. Seniors pay $75 for a year pass and a family (immediate family members only) can use the facility for an entire year for $230.

For more information call the range at 636-3705.
