Everyone is invited to a booksigning on Saturday, December 15, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Western Mining and Railroad Museum in Helper. Featured will be two books - one a fictional account of the Winter Quarters [Scofield] Mine Disaster, and the other an elementary grade history of Winter Quarters Canyon, scene of Utah's first coal mining venture.
Readers will be able to buy the books, and have them signed by the authors. Carla Kelly, author of My Loving Vigil Keeping, will sign her fictional account of the mine disaster, Utah's worst catastrophe, which happened on May 1, 1900. Deborah Balzotti, Springville resident and correspondent with the Provo Daily Herald, will sign copies of Utah Ghost Towns: Uncovering Winter Quarters.
