Men's team trying to fight through injuries; Women's team looking for consistency on offense

The USU Eastern men's and women's basketball teams will be looking to continue improving their play in anticipation of Scenic West Athletic Conference play in two weeks.

For the USU Eastern men, two tough games in Rock Springs, Wyo., showed the team can fight through injuries to get a win. They defeated Western Wyoming 80-70 in overtime before dropping a game against Central Wyoming 79-62 last weekend.

Head Coach Adjalma Becheli said the team held on in overtime to win the first game and ran out of gas late in the game against Central Wyoming.

"We had to expend a lot of energy in trying to make a comeback," Becheli said.

Becheli said the Golden Eagles (4-3) will need to improve this weekend at home against the Colorado Kings. The teams will play on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The USU Eastern women pulled out a 68-58 win over Northwest Wyoming and lost a close 71-70 game to Lamar Community College during a tournament held last week in Salt Lake City.
