Rocky Mountain Power offers help for home energy conservation

Rocky Mountain Power has new incentives for customers who make wattsmart home improvements and upgrades that will save them energy and money.

"We've adjusted our wattsmart programs and incentives, in many cases increasing the dollars our Utah customers can save through energy efficiency improvements," says Rocky Mountain Power Vice President Carol Hunter. "These incentives provide a double-benefit by saving our customers money on the purchase of energy-efficient products and services, and again on their monthly bill through reduced electricity use."

New wattsmart incentives include $20 for the purchase of qualified freezers, $200 for high-efficiency gas furnaces and up to $50 cash back for portable evaporative coolers. There's also a $300 cash incentive for ENERGY STAR® heat-pump water heaters. Recent changes to the incentive requirements now allow customers to receive cash back on these items regardless of whether their homes use gas or electric water heating.

For homeowners looking to reach the highest level of home efficiency, Super Bundles offer bonus incentives of up to $200 (on top of individual incentives) when multiple energy upgrades are made at the same time. A perfect example involves combining an energy-efficient HVAC upgrade with improved insulation, duct sealing and duct insulation. The Super Bundle serves as a reward for homeowners who make a strong commitment to reducing their energy use.

Those searching for efficient lighting options will be pleased to know that LED light bulbs with discount pricing will soon be available at participating retailers. LED bulbs use even less energy than CFLs and can last up to five times longer.
