The Carbon Rodeo Club has been competing all across the state for the past few weeks, and will continue this next weekend in Cedar City. The team is starting the new season off with a bang, according to Jill Jensen, an advisor with the Carbon Rodeo Club.
Dalton Rudman, a senior at Pinnacle Canyon Academy, has been performing well competition in the bull riding event. He has taken a first, a second and a third in the bull riding event to put him currently in first place for the state of Utah.
Zach Jensen, a sophomore at Carbon High, placed 9th in the team roping event in Uintah and Tooele with his partner Ty Gordon from Emery putting them 11th overall in the state in the team roping event. Jensen also placed 7th in the tiedown event in Rich and 8th in Tooele bumping him to the top 15 in the state in the tiedown roping.
Afton Mccourt, a ninth grader at Mont Harmon Jr. High, placed 6th in Rich in the breakaway event moving her to 12th in the state.
JoeCee Heil, a senior at Carbon High, ended up 16th in the goat tying event in the Rich Rodeo.
The rodeo team traveled to Cedar City over the weekend where all six teammates competed. The team will travel to Salina on Saturday for another competition before taking a month off before traveling to St. George in November for the Dixie 6 series.
