After suffering a tough last minute loss to Union last week, the Carbon High Dinos football team will look to gain back some momentum heading into Region 12 play with their homecoming game against Altamont tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
After looking much better on offense during their 42-12 win over Ben Lomond on Aug. 31, the Carbon High offense appeared to carry that momentum into their matchup against Union. They scored on their opening drive finishing it off with a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dakota Cisneros to wide receiver Jordan Blanc.
It was the first of three touchdown catches by Blanc, who also caught the tying two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter.
As for the defense, the sight of seeing a Union running back getting into the open field on a fourth down play late in the game was a devastating experience. It also provided a lesson in what it takes to win.
Carbon High head coach Jeff Blanc said the team battled the entire game despite coming up short. While the loss left the team shaken, Blanc said he was confidence the team will learn and benefit from the experience through the rest of the season.
In the last meeting between the two teams on Sept. 5, 2008, Altamont defeated the Dinos 32-13.
