Fresh off first win, Dinos look to keep momentum going against Union High

Carbon High's Jordan Blanc tries to leap past a Ben Lomond defender during the Dinos' 42-12 win last week on the road in Ogden.

After some early season jitters and miscues, the Carbon High Football team is hoping last week was an indication of how the team can play when everything comes together.

After struggling on offense in their first two games, the Carbon High Dinos broke out in their 42-12 win over Ben Lomond last week.

The Dino offense, which was held to just six points over its first two games, broke out for five touchdowns. Quarterback Dakota Cisneros threw for 249 yards passing with five touchdowns and no interceptions.

Jordan Blanc and Zac Hathaway each caught two touchdown passes. Kyle Barrett added another touchdown reception.

The Carbon High defense kept the Ben Lomond offense in check, only allowing a third quarter touchdown. The Carbon High defense also scored a touchdown of their own as Lane Neese stripped the ball from a Ben Lomond player and returned the ball for a score.

The Scots scored on the opening kickoff which was returned for a touchdown.

The Dinos (1-2, Region 12) will next play host to Union High (2-1, Region 10) on Friday night at the Carbon High Football Field at 7 p.m.

Both teams have defeated Ben Lomond this season as Union gained a 16-13 victory over the Scots on Aug. 17.

In the last meeting between the two teams on Sept. 9, 2011, the Dinos needed a fourth-quarter touchdown to get a 17-13 win over Union, which got the program off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 1951.
