In their first season playing baseball, the Pinnacle Canyon Academy baseball team wasted no time in making history for their school as they swept a doubleheader against Dugway on Friday afternoon at the USU Eastern baseball field.

In the first game in the team's history, the PCA Panthers defeated Dugway 4-1 thanks to a terrific pitching performance from Rowdy Houskeeper. Houskeeper held Dugway to one hit through five innings. Cameron Anderson got the first RBI in PCA history and Houskeeper scored the first run in team history.

In the second game, PCA was quickly put into a 5-0 deficit through the third inning. PCA freshman second baseman Noah Mascarenas hit a two-run single with the bases loaded to cut the deficit to 5-2 in the bottom of the third inning. Catcher Chris Smith followed with a two-run triple and Houskeeper added an RBI groundout to tie the game at 5-5.

Dugway took back the lead in the top of the fourth with two more runs making it 7-5. In the bottom of the inning, the Panthers scored two runs on wild pitches to tie the game at 7-7.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Anderson scored on another Dugway wild pitch to help PCA walk off with a 8-7 win for doubleheader sweep.

Head coach Jason Jaramillo said team displayed a tremendous effort in their first two games, including their comeback win in the second game.

"We're really happy with the two wins," Jaramillo said. "I wanted to see the team compete and I definitely saw that today."

The Panthers will look to continue their good start when they host Tintic for a doubleheader on Friday at the USU Eastern baseball field. Games start at 3 p.m.
