Bennett Mangone

Bennett Mangone
Bennett Mangone, 96, passed away at his daughter's house in Central Point, Ore., on June 8, 2012. He had been under her care for the last 22 months. Before that he resided at an assisted living home in Taylorsville. Bennett was born on Oct. 2, 1915 to Frank and Tresa Mangone in Castle Gate. He was the last of their four children to pass. We joked about him being the "Ever Ready Bunny". He came so close to dying many times, but he recharged and bounced back. He had a great love for his life and lived it. He is survived by three daughters Pat, Susie and Rahshema, and many children who called him grandpa. He was a Staff Sergeant in World War II with the 1503rd Army Air Force. He worked as a welder for Independent Coal & Coke in Castle Gate for over 30 years. He loved gardening and fishing. Graveside services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Helper on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. He will be buried next to his brother, Gabe.
