Black Diamond Pro Am considered a success

Over 200 amateurs and professionals participated in the Carbon Country Club's biggest event of the year in the weeklong Black Diamond Pro Am with a purse totaling $42,000.

Tom King, PGA head golf professional, said the weather held up despite some thunderstorms that moved into the area over the weekend. With the sunshine and warm weather the tournament attracted a high turnout of people watching the action. Overall the course was in good condition and golfers played well as a result, King said.

Thirty-seven professionals participated in the tournament vying for a top prize from a purse totaling $14,000, while the amateurs purse totaled $28,000.

King said the next big event at the golf course is the Eastern Utah Amateur Tournament to be held on Aug. 11-12. Visit the Carbon Country Club to sign up or call 637-2388 for more information.
