Many Carbon High athletes will be putting their skills and abilities to the test as they prepare to compete on the state level.
The Carbon High Baseball and Track teams will enter their respective state competitions starting today and continuing through the weekend.
For the Carbon High Track team, the State Meet held on the campus of BYU represents the final test after a long season. Carbon High Track head coach Jimmy Jewkes said a number of CHS athletes have qualified for the State Meet.
After navigating through tough competition on a weekly basis, the Track team now has a chance to put their skills to the test against all 3A teams with the hopes of a top finish.
The State Track Meet takes place at BYU on Friday and Saturday with the start time for both days around 8 a.m.
For the Carbon High Baseball team, a chance to gain a measure of revenge against Spanish Fork is on tap during the Dinos' quarterfinal game today at Kearns High School at 1:30 p.m.
With the tournament following a double elimination format, the Dinos will play at least two more games. If the Dinos defeat Spanish Fork, they would meet the winner of Canyon View/Snow Canyon in the semifinals on Friday at 4:30 p.m. If the Dinos lose, they would enter the bottom part of the bracket and would face a team yet to be determined on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
