Dave Hussey

Dave Hussey

PRICE/RIVERTON - David Brent Hussey, age 54, passed away May 13, 2012 at his home in Riverton.

Dave faced everything in life with courage and strength, and on his own terms. When he was told by his doctors that he had only six months to live, he said, "No Way!" He went on to live five more years. And those years were filled with happiness, fun, and goodness.

David was born in Price to LaMar and Frances Nielsen Hussey on September

1,1957. He had a great childhood living out in the country with his seven brothers and sisters, along with a lot of extended family nearby.

He spent hours playing in Drunkards Wash and having all kinds of adventures. David

attended Carbon High School in Price, graduating in 1976. High school was great fun for David! He was on the wrestling team, played football, and participated in track. He also attended Boys State.

In general he gave his teachers a run for their money. Dave loved connecting with people, and has remained close with many of his "High School Posse".

Dave wasn't afraid of hard work. He started out working for his Dad at Oil City, then after graduating from high school, he started working for

Kilfoyle Krafts. He remained there for many years. Dave then worked for NELCO Construction until his passing. Wherever he worked he was a dedicated, hardworking employee.

David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A man of greater faith could hardly be found. He held many callings throughout his life and enjoyed themall. He was always ready to serve those around him. Dave loved being involved in his community in Carbon County. He loved politics and served as a State Delegate for the Republican Party for about 13 years. He was also an avid outdoors man and served as a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and then with Sportsman for Fish and Wildlife.

Dave was also a longtime member of Castle Country OHV Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, camping, and just about anything that got him out into nature.

One day Dave met Lucy, and they fell in love. They were married in December 2009. Although their time together was short, they cherished every moment.

David became a huge part of Lucy's family. Michelle and Trevor, Matt, Aaron and Jessica, and Sarah will miss the fun and excitement David brought into their home.

Dave is survived by his wife Lucy, and their kids; his parents, LaMar and Frances Hussey, brothers and their wives, Dixon and Robin Hussey, Doug and Dana Hussey, Daryl and Dalina Hussey; sisters and their husband's, Dana and Richard Tucker, Robin and David Thayn, Beth Ann and Ron Payne, and Doreen and Keanan Raven. As well as 30 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and Lucy's extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and nephew Seth Hussey.

Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 E. Main Street) in Price. Funeral service, Friday, May 18, 2012, 11 a.m., at the Copperview 4th Ward, 12230 S. 3200 W. Riverton with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Riverton City Cemetery.
