Emergency Preparedness Fair this Saturday

Event features preparing for crisis situations

The Carbon-Emery Emergency Preparedness Fair will take place this Saturday (April 28) between noon and 6 p.m. at the Carbon County Events Center.

The fair will feature booths, emergency response vehicles and much more.

There will also be a series of workshops including seminars on Grab N Go Boxes, alternate cooking sources, quick and easy meals from food storage sources and advanced water filtration.

The admission to the fair is free and there will be a free lunch as well, featuring hamburgers and hot dogs while supplies last.

There will also be door prizes awarded throughout the day.

Emergency PIO to speak at fair

Joseph Dougherty, Utah Division of Emergency Management Public Information Officer, will be the keynote speaker at the Carbon Emery Emergency Preparedness Fair which will be held on April 28, 2012 at the Carbon County Event Center. He will be speaking on general emergency preparedness and report on the Great Utah ShakeOut drill.

Mr. Dougherty provides about 100 media interviews each year on emergency preparedness, Be Ready Utah and emergency management. A former Deseret News reporter, Joe joined DEM in 2010. He will be speaking at 2:00 pm.

The fair will be open from noon until 6:00 pm. Admission is free. Free hamburgers and hotdogs will be served until 2:00 pm (while supplies last).
