While battling tough conditions and high wind gusts, the Carbon High girls golf team walked away with a third place finish at the region golf meet in Delta on Wednesday.
Carbon finished in third with 114 points. Spanish Fork took first with 133 points and host team Delta finished in second with 117 points. The modified stableford scoring system was used.
Seniors Kelcy Otani, Lexi Gagon and sophomore Hailey Kirkwood each scored 29 points for Carbon High. Freshman Braxton Gibson added 27 points.
Head coach Kenji Otani said the team was a little off at the meet, with the weather helping to play a factor in their play overall.
"The girls were a little off at the meet," said Otani. "It was just one of those bad days out there on the course."
While the third place finish at Delta may not be what the team was looking for, Otani said the team is still in position for a region title and for the state tournament in May.
Carbon will continue their season on Thursday as they travel to Uintah for a meet starting at Noon.
